If you live in Tokyo, and you’re like me, you’ve probably made sure that you visit every Vinyl pop-up event on offer. ( I highly recommend following instagram.com/vinyl_museum for updates on all of their latest work.)
So I couldn’t help but check out the latest.
My sincere apologies for the late notice as I was late to the game this time but I’m frantically working on this blog post so that I can tell you about it before it ends.
The final day is Wednesday December 12, 2018.
The location this year is Bank Gallery in Omotesando. It is just a minute or two on foot from Cat Street.
If this will be your first time, Vinyl is a small pop-up gallery made up of small colourful rooms – set up like little photo booths.
The theme this year is HOTEL.
It is not made for children – but more for girlie instagram lovers – but the colours and the interactive nature also make it so much fun for families.
I also loved the Christmas soundtrack blasting through the whole venue.
Just a little note for people who take kids: although it looks like a playcentre, this is someone’s beautiful artwork so, although the staff are pretty flexible remind kids not to pull at the exhibits, step on boxes or take anything off the walls.
Also, there are no restrooms here so make sure kids have gone before you enter at a surrounding restaurant or department store.
– A well charged phone
– Clothing for moving around in
– Minimal layers (it was really hot in there)
-Strollers are fine but you’ll need to park them outside of the entrance
-Shoes that slip on and off easily (about one third of the rooms require shoes off)
LOCATION:
BANK GALLERY OMOTESANDO
6-14-5 JINGUMAE, SHIBUYA
HOURS: 11AM-9PM (Final day is Dec 12)
TICKETS
Tickets are sold at the door for 2300 yen (free for children 3 and younger.)
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at a discounted price of 1800 yen.
Personally I recommend checking their instastories as they seem to be downloading availability of time slots regularly.
Also, I went from 11AM and the place was almost empty.
You are only allowed to stay for one hour maximum.
