For those who are really watching their wallets in Tokyo, but aren’t keen on a grubby hostel or bunking in with strangers, I would like to recommend these accommodation options.
HENN NA HOTELS (they are a chain of hotels)
This hotel is simple in all the right ways. Small rooms but new and one of the most affordable options. The lobby always has a gimmick like dinosaurs or robots at front reception, depending on which location you choose.
These are a ” fend for yourself” in clean and modern facilities kind of deal.
There are hot food vending machines in the lobby and a restaurant option for breakfast close by.
And, finally, I would recommend looking at THE HOTELS THAT END IN THE WORDS “TOKYO BAY”
This means that they are out near Tokyo Disneyland so, around 30 minutes by train from the centre of town.
That means that you will, outside of high season, get not only cheaper options BUT you will also get more space than you will in the middle of town too.
For example, Hilton Tokyo Bay and Ibis Tokyo Bay both have 100 dollar per night rooms – even though the rooms are some of the most spacious in Tokyo.
