There are a few branches but I visited the MiPig Cafe, Harajuku, with my daughter.
The cafe was easy to book via the MiPig Cafe website here .
We went with the non-private room and have no regrets as we had plenty of interaction with lots of little piggies and 30 mins felt like plenty of time.
I understand that animal cafes are not something everyone feels comfortable with and so I completely understand if it’s not something for you.
For us, we did feel like the pigs were well looked after and taken care of.
We did find the pigs to be quite rowdy and the sometime fought amongst themselves (and boy do they get loud!)
For this reason, I don’t think I would take children below elementary school age to a cafe like this.
It cost 1100 yen for each of us for 30 minutes and the cafe is right near Takeshita Street in Harajuku.
We went for the first session in the morning and really liked being the first group of the day.
Occasionally I needed to ask the staff to help as lots of pigs in my little girl’s lap were getting heavy for her.
What to wear / bring?
Easy slip on and off shoes as you will need to take them off at the entrance.
For obvious reasons, I wouldn’t wear new or favourite clothing items or dangly jewellery.
The staff give you a little locker on your way in that can also fit some of your belongings in but I would avoid larger bags if you can.
The staff give you each a little black blanket on your lap when pigs climb up on you.
This is my Harajuku with kids post for things to do before or afterwards.
