ZUSHI WITH KIDS

ZUSHI WITH KIDS

Zushi is a little over an hour from Central Tokyo – whether you get there by train or car.  It is easier, how ever, if you do have a car so you can make the most of zipping around town with kids.

During the warmer months, the traffic can be awful on the weekends as all the Tokyoites escape to the beach.

Zushi is also close to Kamakura so it can be good to combine the two spots – especially if staying in the area overnight.

Where to eat in Zushi with kids:  Malibu Farm Zushi Marina
Malibu Farm Zushi Marina is the Japanese branch of the “Fresh, Organic, Local” Concept restaurant in Los Angeles.
We love this restaurant so much that we once at here twice in 2 days!  I recommend making a reservation to avoid missing out on a table.
The food here is fresh and delicious and they are also very family friendly.
If you park at the paid parking next to the restaurant, make sure you ask for the restaurant to validate your parking.
This restaurant accepts most major credit cards (there is a 10% service fee on top of the bill.)  This restaurant does have a children’s menu.
Budget for an adult lunch is approx 3,500 yen and more like 7000 yen at dinner time.
The decor is so fresh and bohemian chic and it’s just the perfect place if you’re craving fresh salads and light summery meals.
This restaurant is 12 mis walk from my recommended Zushi family accommodation, The Harbor Terrace.

18 mins drive on from the Marina, is La Ohana. It is a Hawaiian restaurant – great for families.  This restaurant accepts most major credit cards and there is a change table for babies in the restroom here.  See here for the full La Ohana menu.  This restaurant is a walk-in restaurant only.   I would budget 2000-3000 yen per adult to dine here.  They have a kids menu. You can see the beach from the restaurant too!

Small beachside playground in Zushi
Kotsubo IIjima Park is a grassy open space with one small climbing structure just by the beach.  It isn’t big but is a nice place for little kids to have a stretch and a play.  Please note that there are no public toilets here.
It is 6 mins walk from Malibu Farm and 3 mins walk from recommended accommodation The Harbor Terrace.

During the summer months, it is common to find street stalls and local festivals selling kakigori (flavoured shaved ice).
