HOTELS NEAR TOKYO DISNEY

HOTELS NEAR TOKYO DISNEY

HOTELS NEAR TOKYO DISNEY RESORT
I wrote my Accommodation for Families in Tokyo post but I also wanted to do a separate write up for accommodation near Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.

First off, though, I really do need to stress that it is not vital that you stay next to Disney if you visit Disney.
If you stay in the city centre, it is about 30 minutes back to your accommodation by train in the centre of town.

*Please note that the new section of TOKYO DISNEYSEA ( Tangled and Frozen and Peter Pan section called “Fantasy Springs” is opening on June 6th. If you decide to visit in June it can go one of two ways
1) If you are a hard core Disney fan and don’t mind waiting hours and hours – you could be one of the first people to enter this new section
2) The other areas of Tokyo Disneysea MAY be (no guarantee) less busy at this time before the focus with crowds will be on the new section so it could be a win-win if you deliberately avoid that new section
*Either way – tickets will be hard to get for this time (especially as annual passport holders will be all dying to go) so please remember to book early!
I’ve written about visiting Fantasy Springs with kids here.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST HOTELS ONLY OPEN UP THEIR BOOKING SYSTEMS 6 MONTHS AHEAD OF TIME.
If you look earlier than 6 months it may look like a hotel is completely booked – but it is because they haven’t yet opened these dates.    The Official Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels don’t open up bookings until 3-4 months ahead of time. If you are able to find rooms earlier than 6 months in time they can often be more expensive as the sites are assuming they will be able to get the rooms once the dates are officially open (so compare current and future prices to be sure.)   If you book too early – you hotel choices will be quite limited compared to waiting.

Here is a list of hotels in central Tokyo with shuttle buses straight to Tokyo Disney

One advantage to staying closer to Disney (Tokyo Bay Area) is the fact that you will generally get bigger rooms at the same or cheaper price than the city centre. If you have a large family this might be one of your best options – as long as you are comfortable with travelling approx 30 mins when you decide to visit the Central Tokyo.

Also, there are a range of hotels near Tokyo Disney Resort but there are also other hotels that are not linked to the franchise and, therefore, will save you a lot of money.
We have stayed in one of the official Disney hotels and wrote about it here, if you are interested.
I have also written in detail about what it’s like to stay at the Toy Story Hotel in Tokyo here.

*Please note that Tokyo Disney Official Hotels can only be booked up to 2 months in advance*
*Please note that, in my opinion, the official hotel Miracosta is more targeted to couples than families.  It is lovely but in a fake-italy kind of way lovely and, in my opinion,  not really made with families in mind.*

PLEASE NOTE THAT, SINCE THE OPENING OF FANTASY SPRINGS 2024, MANY OF THE RULES ABOUT EARLY ENTRY TO THE PARKS FOR HOTEL GUESTS HAVE CHANGED SO PLEASE CHECK CHECK CHECK BEFORE MAKING RESERVATIONS.

When booking a hotel in Japan with children, many people are confused as to why the hotel assumes they will share a bed with their children. I’ve done my best to try and answer this question here.

Before you book a hotel with a pool (including the disney hotels) please read this as Japan has some really strange rules and timelines for swimming pools.

Here is an extra tip if you are exploring the Disney area or staying at a hotel near Disney at the end of the day, if the weather is nice (so nice that they aren’t cancelled) you can see the Tokyo Disneyland fireworks from Maihama Station at 8:30pm each night.

HOTELS NEAR TOKYO DISNEY RESORT:
Ibis Styles Tokyo Bay
(this is my personal favourite!)
Reasons? It’s so much more affordable. Rooms are clean. Shuttle to and from Disney is fab. The hotel has also has a public bath for guests to use.)

I’ve personally stayed here with my two kids and it was fantastic. The shuttle to and from Disney was great.  The shuttles start as early as 7am and last shuttle back to the hotel is around 10:30pm.   Shuttles can also transport guests to  and from Shin-Urayasu Station.
The rooms were medium sized ( large by Tokyo standards) and everything was clean and fresh.  I also made use of the coin laundry facilities.
*A little note on coin laundries in hotels in Japan.  The detergent is almost always built into the machine.  If someone in your family has allergies to certain washing powders it is probably best to email in advance to find out what they use and what your options are. Oh.. and another note.. if the washer and dryer is built into one machine – the dryer setting really only works well for 1-2 items (big items like a pair of jeans and a long sleeved top, I mean) so don’t do what I do and just put in heaps of things to dry for longer – hoping that they will dry. It doesn’t work like that. Best to do little tiny drying sessions for the best drying results. It a lesson in patience but it will save you lots of coins in the long run
Breakfast was simple and it did the job on our way out the door.   The hotel gifts kids with cute little complimentary slippers that they can take home and keep.
The in-house public bath is 500 yen to use and is open between 6am-10am and then again from 5pm-1am.  *The bath is for full-toilet trained children and older.  Children 9 and younger or 120cm or shorter in height can use the bath with their parent of the opposite gender.
There is a 7-Eleven ( the Irifune 4-chome store) just 7 minutes walk from the hotel.   There is also a big shopping mall called Aeon Style ShinUrayasu Semmontengai – just 4 mins in a cab from the hotel (this shopping mall has a large supermarket, an H&M, a few large sporting goods shops, Karaoke, games arcade, electrical goods store and a 100 yen shop – and many others.)  I speak in detail about this shopping mall here.

We even brought back a takeout pizza box from Pan Galactic Pizza at Tokyo Disneyland.  You can ask for a “vegetarian pizza” here if you need.  It will take a few mins longer though.

If you need to buy nappies / diapers while staying at this Ibis Styles location – go to Drug Seims (7 mins walk.)   Open 9am-10:45pm.
See here for restaurants and shops in the Ibis Styles Tokyo Bay area.

Henn Na Hotel Maihama  This hotel is simple but so new and clean.  You won’t forget staying here as the front reception is manned by Dinosaurs. I wrote all about it here.  This is one of the most affordable options near Disney that I have found.  They don’t have family rooms so you could do 2 parents and 1 child or 2 parents and 2 kids if one child shares a bed.
They have a free shuttle to Disney.

Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay
This hotel is just next the Tokyo Disney Resort Liner “Bayside Station.”  There is also a complimentary bus shuttle to the Disney Parks.

The entrance to the Bayside Station for the Disney Resort Liner.

This brand is very well known in Japan and well regarded for exquisite customer service.  The deluxe room type offers some connecting room options – great for bigger families. This hotel provides pyjamas for in-room use (for adults and children.)  If you book a Japanese style room with futons and a tatami floor – you will also have access to a private onsen time just for you and your family in the evenings. Reserve your time for the private onsen as soon as you can though.
Unfortunately, this hotel only offers cots/cribs for babies less than 1 year old.
There are change tables in the men and women’s restrooms on the ground floor.   There is a drugstore within the hotel.
This hotel also has an incredible breakfast buffet (lots of Japanese and Western options) as well as it’s own in-house Japanese restaurant, Teppanyaki restaurant and Chinese restaurant.  Each restaurant has a children’s menu, space to enter the restaurant with a child in a stroller and they also have high chairs.
Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay can assist with luggage forwarding (receiving and sending.)
There is no coin laundry in this hotel. You can send your luggage out to be cleaned and dry cleaned (will take approx 24 hours and will cost extra, of course.)

As you can see, the Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay and the Toy Story Hotel are just next to each other.

La’Gent Hotel Tokyo Bay
As you see above, they have a free shuttle to Disney. Affordable.  Unusual decor but breakfast is cheap or free, depending on your package, and the staff speak English well.  Children are provided with a toothbrush and child slippers upon check-in.   There is a small soft play space for babies at the hotel as well as an in-house coin laundry. Many of the rooms here have bunk beds and can accommodate up to 6 people.

Urayasu Brighton Hotel Tokyo Bay
Free 15 min shuttle to Disney. Beautiful Japanese and Western Restaurants.   They have spacious rooms for up to 8 people.
The hotel is connected to Shin-Urayasu Station.

Urayasu Brighton Hotel Tokyo Bay. It’s connected to Shin-Urayasu Station.

There is a playground just 2 mins walk from here called Irifune Park. I have some pictures of this playground in the section of this blog post that talks about Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.  There is also a giant shopping mall just 3 mins walk from this hotel- I speak about what restaurants and shops and supermarket you can find in this shopping mall here.

Hilton Tokyo Bay
Indoor and Outdoor Pools ( please note that pool fees are not necessarily covered in your room package. This is, unfortunately, quite common in Japan – see here for more information.)   Complimentary Shuttle to the Tokyo Disney Resort Line.  Guaranteed park admission for hotel guests.  There is also a shuttle to the airport (additional charge.)
Before you book a hotel with a pool (including the disney hotels) please read this as Japan has some really strange rules and timelines for swimming pools.
Sometimes the sales/ low season prices can be as low as 100 US dollars a night for a twin room.  Their suites can accommodate up to 6 adults.
The whole hotel is quite dated but is comfortable and has everything you need.
If you’re looking for gluten free options at Hilton Tokyo Bay, their Accendo restaurant has a gluten free pasta with a tomato based sauce or a cream based sauce and is served with gluten free bread.
The Hilton Tokyo Bay has cots for children who are less than 24 months.  See an image on their website here for the cribs at the Hilton Tokyo Bay.

Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay
I’ve had some families that have stayed here who aren’t even going to Disney because of the amount of space and the number of beds in the rooms.
I have stayed here with my family and didn’t find it to be that impressive. If you get a good room rate – still stay here.   I just find the rooms to be a bit run down.   The staff are lovely and the location is also amazing.
Half of the rooms are new and renovated but the others are not.  For me, it’s a very expensive hotel to stay at just to be so close to the Tokyo Disney Resort.
There is a Disney Ticket Counter.  They also have the following families ( for an additional charge) on the property such as mini-golf, a playcentre, a spa, pool, gym, games arcade and a photography studio.  They also have their own coin laundry.   For big families or family’s travelling with teenagers? This is fantastic option because of the number of beds on offer.
Please note that the outdoor pool at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay is only open during July and August and is not free for guests.

Eating instant UFO from the convenience store in the lobby back in our room after Tokyo Disneyland. At the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay.

If you’re looking for Gluten Free options at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay, both the coffee shop in the lobby and the breakfast buffet offer gluten free bread.
The buffet here is also well labelled for many common allergens as well as gluten free products and items that are completely vegan

Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay
This hotel has such a kooky lobby and is known for having nice long beds (great for tall people!)
There is a shuttle to the Disney Resort Liner (or you can just walk for 5 mins to the Resort Liner station.)
Rooms are bigger than most Tokyo hotel rooms.  This hotel offers cots / cribs for guests – but only for babies who are not yet able to stand.
This hotel has a pool but it is only open from the first week of July through to mid-September.  The pool is not free for guests (can cost as much as 6000 yen per person per day.) Children in swimming diapers are allowed to swim here.

Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay
Some rooms can accommodate as many as 6 people.  Many of the rooms have leg massaging machines which is PERFECT after a day walking around Disney parks!

Our room at Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. This room type is the family room on the “Standard Floor.”  This is my smaller roller suitcase too. See here if you’d like to see the type of luggage I recommend bringing to Japan.
My kids loved the bunks here.

Pyjamas are provided for guests to use in-house. Can you see them stored in the bunk bed stairs here?
This room sleeps 6 (could do more if you have kids small enough to bed-share.)

This hotel has a coin laundry for guests to use. I say “coin” but these machines actually work by paying on your phone and scanning a code.
*A little note on coin laundries in hotels in Japan.  The detergent is almost always built into the machine.  If someone in your family has allergies to certain washing powders it is probably best to email in advance to find out what they use and what your options are. Bathtub at Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. The tub is massive and I love how the toilet is separate.

Excuse the mess. My little guy is opening up his choice of toy from the 100 yen shop while at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. In the top left you can see the leg massager in the room. Perfect for after a long day of walking.
Eating a supermarket sushi and caprese salad for dinner in the room (purchased at the Aeon Mall next to Shin-Urayasu Station.)
The drink is an alcoholic peach flavoured chu-hai.

They also have cribs/cots to put in the rooms for guests staying with babies (although it will be room type dependent.)  Cribs/cots can only be used by babies younger than 12 months old.

There is a special sweets and drinks buffet for guests in the lobby on the night they check-in (a “Welcome Lobby”) – it includes make your own fairy floss (cotton candy.)

The Welcome Sweets and Fairy Floss for the night of check-in at Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.
Loving the unlimited candy bar.
Unlimited Sparkling Wine and Beer for adults too.

This was while at Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. There are so many Japanese families staying here. The vibes here are happy and relaxed.
The Welcome Lobby restaurant at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.
Using our “restaurant toys” from the 100 yen shop. This is a stained glass sticker activity from my favourite brand of 100 yen shop “Seria.”  I speak about the importance of packing/buying restaurant toys when dining out with kids here.

There is an Aeon Shopping Mall across the road too.  I speak about this shopping mall – including restaurants, shops and what to look for in the supermarket here.   There is also a Lawson*convenience store in the hotel lobby.

Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay has it’s own Lawson convenience store in the lobby

*While at Lawson (convenience store brand) …
These fried chicken options are LIFESAVERS (especially if you have picky eaters with you.)
This one pictured below is available at Lawson convenience stores – it is called “Karage-Kun” (pronounced “ka-ra-ge-kun”) and inside contains approx 6 pieces of Japanese fried chicken. Be sure to get the REGULAR flavour and the other option is a bit spicy and one of the other flavours sometimes available contains cheese.  (see here for other Japanese convenience store tips and our favourite foods sold here in this blog post.)

Karage-kun. Sold at Lawson Convenience Stores (not sold at “Natural Lawson”)

The breakfast buffet is big and also very relaxed vibes (great for families.)  My kids loved the donut station and they even had Kelloggs Cornflakes here!   There is also an unlimited soda, juice and coffee vending machine.  My little boy was also in heaven spotting chicken nuggets at the brekkie buffet.  I loved that they had lots of salad options.

Sorry about my blurry photo ( I was hungry, k?!) Manned chef station at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. This chef was making mini cheese burgers, omelettes and eggs benedict.
The breakfast restaurant at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.
Lots of salads and noodle options too. You can also see my Japan Wireless pocket wifi box on the table here.
Not the most photogenic “flat lay” but it shows cheeseburgers, cornflakes, donuts, toast etc.
There is a “baby care room” just outside of the restaurant. It has a space to breastfeed and change a baby.
The high chairs at the breakfast restaurant at the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay
This is what is behind that red door. The baby care room with change table, sink and a place to breastfeed.
There is also a change table in the women’s bathroom in the hotel lobby.

We only ate here once as we didn’t want to waste time at the breakfast buffet and miss the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. (I write here about why it’s important to get there early for Tokyo Disney.)

This hotel also offers a babysitting service (please reserve in advance.)

This hotel has a complimentary shuttle to Tokyo Disney Resort.
Here is the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay Disney Shuttle Timetable.

The shuttle bus picking us up from the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.
This happy face on the complimentary shuttle from the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay to Tokyo Disneyland.
As you can see, the complimentary shuttle has space for some luggage and strollers.
With luggage, I wouldn’t rely on using coin lockers next to Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo Disneysea – they fill up first thing in the morning. Best to have your hotel store your luggage and go back for it later.  When going to Disneyland or Sea using this bus, I recommend lining up for one bus ahead of the time you want to go (especially in the morning.)  That way, it’s not stressful if the bus is super busy or the bus line is too long to board at the time of your choice.
This is the bus stop outside Tokyo Disneyland to catch the bus back to the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.

The Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay is connected to Shin-Urayasu station. See my guide on the Shin-Urayasu Station area for the shopping and eatery options nearby.

There is also a small playground just 5 minutes walk away from Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay.  It is also just 2 mins walk from Urayasu Brighton Hotel Tokyo Bay.   This isn’t a spectacularly beautiful park but the small playground may save your morning if you have wriggly small children.  The park is called Irifune Park.  Please note that there aren’t any public bathrooms here (there are enough trees to take a child for a quick sneaky “picnic wee” if you had to though.

Swing sets at Irifune Park

Irifune Park. Don’t worry – this sign simply says “No Smoking” and “No Littering”
There are also these upside down monkey bar things.
There is also this concrete mountain thing in the middle. My kids had to take off their shoes to get enough grip to get to the top and then enjoyed sliding down.

The Mitsui Garden Prana Tokyo Bay
I haven’t stayed here personally but a friend who has said that the shuttle to and from Disney is great.   Inside the hotel is a 24 hour convenience store, an onsen, laundry facilities.  The rooms are also big enough for 4 single beds. The public bath here for guests has an ocean view and the rooms also have a foot massage machine. This hotel is able to put cribs/cots in the room but only for babies younger than 12 months old.

Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince
This hotel has family rooms which contain a king bed and 1 set of bunk beds.  There is an an onsite restaurant called Tide Table that serves Japanese-French cuisine.  There is also a mens and women public onsen-style bath and sauna.  Please note that only toilet trained children can make use of the public bath facilities – also, it is a public bath – not a pool so you must be naked, no swimsuits allowed.  They also have a fitness centre and a kids playroom.  There is also a breastfeeding room next to the playroom.
Please note that this hotel isn’t super close to Disney (it’s actually slightly closer to central Tokyo) and there is no shuttle to the Disney Parks.  It is one minute walk from Shiomi Station ( and it will take approximately 20 mins total to get to Tokyo Disneyland.) Rooms, however, are considerably bigger compared to many hotel options in central Tokyo.    This hotel can provide cots for babies – but only for babies younger than 8 months of age.

ANOTHER SUGGESTION FOR CHOOSING ACCOMMODATION WITH GOOD TOKYO DISNEY ACCESS?
Sotetsu Fresa are a chain of hotels that I recommend as one of my trusted Japan hotel chains.  Their hotel in Odaiba called Sotetsu Fresa Ariake has a free shuttle to Disneyland.   This hotel has everything you could need in terms of amenities and is VERY VERY cost effective.  Warning though – the rooms are very very small.

To use the Disney shuttle, you will need to book a spot on the bus in advance and the first bus of the day is at 7:10am.  That is the most popular bus and books out quickly – and some people believe that it doesn’t get you to Tokyo Disney Resort early enough … but it depends how hardcore you are about Disneyland, I guess.

AND IF YOU WANTED A CENTRAL TOKYO HOTEL WITH VERY EASY ACCESS TO DISNEYLAND AND SIGHTSEEING SPOTS IN TOKYO?
Then I’d recommend staying at Mimaru Hatchobori which I have written about in detail here.

Did you know that there is quite a lot to do in this area that isn’t just Disney? Here are my  recommendations.
