Aussie’s (especially Melburnians) are self-confessed coffee snobs.
I’m asked so often about where to find decent coffee in Japan (and if you say Starbucks then this isn’t the blog post for you – and you’re in luck because Starbucks is very easy to find in Japan.)
Please note – this is not a “cute cafes in Tokyo” post. It is also not a “cafes for breakfast with kids in Tokyo post” (although I do have one like that right here if you are interested.)
So here is my list – if you find another to add, please send me an email or an instagram dm !
AUSSIE-STANDARD “GOOD COFFEE” IN TOKYO
Hiroo
Nem. They make fantastic coffee and hot chocolate and my hubby swears by their pork sandwiches. I just love their timber interior and “secret” laneway location. They have oat milk, soy milk and almond milk too.
NEM
4-5-6 MINAMIAZABU, MINATO
港区南麻布4-5-6
OPEN: 8AM-5PM (CLOSED EVERY TUESDAY AND 1ST & 2ND MONDAY OF THE MONTH)
Here are other places to eat at or go and see while in the Hiroo area with kids.
CHAIN STORE OPTIONS IN TOKYO WITH AUSSIE-STANDARD GOOD COFFEE
Sawamura
Sawamura is a bakery restaurant and their coffee is really good. Google the closest Sawamura to you (they are all over the city). They are open quite early (for Japan) too.
Latte Graphic
It’s worth googling your closest option. The food here is really good. There are quite a few branches around Tokyo (more in the suburbs than the centre of town.)
