BENTOYA JAPANESE COOKING CLASSES IN ENGLISH

BENTOYA JAPANESE COOKING CLASSES IN ENGLISH

I’m kind of well known for not being a great cook.
I mean, I make it work and my little humans are still jumping and smiling so I mustn’t be completely messing it all then, right?

But I did get the chance to try one of Bentoya’s new cooking classes and they were so patient with me and were more than happy to let my 5 year old in on the action.

You see, the teachers, Akiko and Rina, are both Mums themselves – they get it.
They get that it needs to be reasonably stress-free, not too expensive and really yummy.

They also both speak fluent English. Akiko used to live in Canada so I found it really easy to ask her questions about ingredient substitutions and supermarket shopping concerns.

In just a bit over an hour they taught us how to make Vegan Gyoza.

My favourite part was making ( and eating) the vegan gyoza.  Sooo yummy.

They even helped me with my bento styling.
How cute is this?

This firetruck lunchbox is my own. If you want one you can grab it on Amazon here.

Their business is still reasonably new but their vegan and vegetarian options are already proving to be soooo popular – so I recommend booking at least one week in advance.  They have studios in both Tokyo (their studio is in Yotsuya) and Yokohama.
Rina’s Beef Wrapped Asparagus in Teriyaki Sauce recipe was recently featured in Hawaii based Japanese Culture & Island Life magazine ‘Wasabi.’

The lesson they are teaching on weekends right now are Vegan Tempura & Sushi.

They are more than happy to have babies in carriers or small children join in ! It’s just a lovely, low pressure, chilled environment.
To make a booking or ask some further questions, the best way to catch them is via email bentoyacooking@gmail.com or via their @bentoyacooking instagram page.
