HIGH CHAIRS IN TOKYO

HIGH CHAIRS IN TOKYO

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo
Finding high chairs in Tokyo is not always the easiest thing so this is my personal list and I just keep adding to is as a go.
Just an FYI, high chairs in Japanese are referred to as “baby chairs.”

This blog post contains some affiliate links. This means that I will receive a small commission if you book a hotel or make a purcahse using one of my links – at no additional charge to you.

Here is my bigger list of restaurants ( as well as sightseeing spots and playgrounds) that are particularly welcoming with and fun to visit with children in Shinjuku.

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo: Shinjuku
TEMPURA SHINJUKU TSUNAHACHI (TEMPURA)
For a substantial Japanese lunch or dinner, I recommend visiting Tempura Shinjuku Tsunahachi (inside the Takashimaya Department Store) on the 13th floor.

For adults I would expect to pay 2500 yen for lunch and 5000 yen for dinner. They are happy for small children to share with their parents.

The tempura here is prepared Edo-me (Tokyo style) and it is a darker colour than I’ve eaten before. The flavours were amazing.
The entire restaurant is non-smoking.
They also have high chairs.
They do have an English menu.
They also accept most major credit cards. .

You can choose from a set menu or you can order each vegetable or meat dish on its own, a la carte style.

This is an example of the seasonal lunch menu – available only in Japanese but you could point and go ( or just choose from a menu option, of course.)

Another restaurant with a high chair option – also in the Takashimaya Times Square complex.
My kids also love an Italian restaurant in Takashimaya Square Department Store called Mia Bocca: Hokkaido Italian.  All of their cheese is beautiful, fresh Hokkaido produce.   They have a kids plate for just 980 yen – which includes orange soup, gnocchi in tomato-based pasta sauce,  bread, marinated mushrooms and chicken and panacotta for dessert (only for children elementary school age and younger and no menu alterations.)

Mia Bocca Shinjuku Kids Meal

However, my kids also like ordering what they like from the general menu.  Like most kids, they love a restaurant with a “push to order” button at the table.

This restaurant accepts most major credit cards. Budget for lunch here – around 2000 yen per adult and more like 3000 yen at dinner time.

Please see my article here on how to go about making a reservation for a restaurant in Japan when the website doesn’t have an English website option.

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Daikanyama
IVY PLACE (WESTERN DINING)
Within the T-Site Complex in Daikanyama, you’ll find Ivy Place.
We love dining here at anytime of the day and find breakfast/brunch to be particularly kid friendly.
Unfortunately they do not take reservations for groups with children so I recommend getting there early and having a little play in the courtyard outside the restaurant if you need to wait for your table.  They are well-known for their yummy pancakes.
The entire venue is non-smoking.
See here if you’d like to learn about additional Daikanyama with Kid-friendly spots.

SPRING VALLEY BREWERY ( BREWERY & PIZZA)
If you’re on Log Road in Daikanyama, why not check out Spring Valley Brewery?
It has a beautiful outdoor terrace and my kids love the pizza. If the adults want to sample all that the brewery has to offer, try a beer flight of lots of little samples.
*Please note that children of preschool age or younger are not permitted entry after 5pm*

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Ebisu

SARUTAHIKO COFFEE
Right next to JR Ebisu Station inside the Atre Department Store (West Building) is the cutest little coffee shop Sarutahiko Coffee with the cutest takeaway coffee cups ( I may or may not have gone there just to get my hot chocolate in this cup….)
If you decide to dine-in there is a cute little cafe seating area. If you’re with the kiddies they do have one lone highchair.  Just one. Hehehe. But it is a pretty funky highchair.
In case you have a hard time finding this place, it is next to the florist and behind Shake Shack.
If you’re hungry they have some simple breakfast-type options like muffins, eggs on toast, french toast and some sweet breads.

If you like this brand of coffee, they have other stores in Omotesando, Shinjuku, Azabu, Kojimacho and Sengawa.

An all you can eat Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu option in Shibuya with kids
Momo Paradise
used to be Nabezo in Shibuya and has since switched hands. This is fantastic place to come and eat Wagyu (or not if you’d like to eat the non-branded kind of meat and save some money) and also a fabulous option if you all need some more veggies in your life! ( I speak about this a lot here but lots of families worry about getting enough fresh western style salads and veggies while in Japan and this is literally all you can eat veggies and salads! It’s amazing!)
When you enter the restaurant, the staff will guide you through the menu (they speak english here!). You choose your menu package – wagyu meat or local meat, pork or beef or pork AND beef ( I don’t eat meat but I still need to pay for it to dine here so I can access all of those yummy all you can eat veggies and tofu – side note: tofu in sukiyaki is heaven!)  and then you can go up to the veggie buffet to choose your veggies for the table.

The price for your meal also includes all you can drink soft drinks and juice, ice-cream, dumplings (to cook in the hot pot at your table) and unlimited steamed rice.

We went on a weekday lunch time and were able to walk right in without a booking.   It was approx 2200 yen for me and 1700 yen for my kids (less if your kids are younger than 7.) *Please note that Wagyu is, of course, extra.
My kids love sukiyaki more than shabu shabu because it’s sweeter.  They also love doing the “cooking.”

My personal sukiyaki chef!

Ask the staff for lots of help if you’re not sure how to do it. You are also handed an instruction card.

This restaurant has high chairs but it is the type that don’t have a strap at the front so it’s probably better for toddlers than babies.

My kids perching themselves on the high chairs in the lobby outside the restaurant.

This restaurant accepts most major credit cards.  If your kids love this restaurant, there is another branch in Shinjuku and Asakusa.
It is possible to make a reservation on the Momo Paradise website here.
When you start cooking, they give you a cover for your bags and little aprons for everyone at the table.

The Aftermath for us wasn’t pretty but we were in an amazing happy food coma and I loved that they pulled out their scratch art from the Daiso (100 yen store) at Mark City in Shibuya and I could just “be” for a second.

Looking for a vegan bakery in Shibuya?
If you are searching for vegan sweets and bread, I recommend visiting AZLM Connected Cafe. I recommend their vegan chocolate banana bread.  Their drip coffee is also only 99 yen.   They do not accept reservations but do accept most major credit cards. No smoking allowed.  Cafe only seats 9 people.
It is 144 metres from the station.  Exit the station via the Hachiko entrance ( under the Hachiko dog statue) and look to your right .

It’s a random recommendation but …the  Starbucks in Ebisu is pretty cool.    They also have highchairs.  This place is 2 minutes walk from Ebisu Park, too. For playgrounds and other kid-friendly recommendations in Ebisu see here.

JAPANESE  ” FAST FOOD” MARINATED MEAT ON RICE DISHES
(This restaurant, below, has high chairs but not the type with a tray attached at the front)
My Japanese friends are going to laugh at me for recommending this next place (it’s literally next door to Green Brothers) but I think it’s a cool option for something a bit different.
Yoshinoya is a gyudon (marinated or fried meat, or fish, served on rice) chain eatery BUT the Ebisu store is a new concept store unlike the other Japan-wide restaurants.  It’s a “premium” version of Yoshinoya, designed to appeal more to female customers.
If you want to really eat like the local businessmen on their lunch break or a Japanese version of a casual, quick, sandwich shop lunch – I think this is a tasty treat (and I love the people watching here too.)
The prices are so reasonable.
It’s approximately 500 yen for a rice and meat bowl that also comes with a small side salad and miso soup.
See here for the Yoshinoya English Menu.  There is also an in-store English menu in this Ebisu branch of Yoshinoya.
If you enjoy this meal, you’re in luck, this chain has stores dotted all over Japan.
They have booth seating as well as table seating and yes the have high chairs (no tray attached at the front though.)  They also have children’s forks and plastic plates.
All drinks are self-serve for around 150 yen.

There isn’t a change table but I think I would easily manage to change a nappy of a small baby of this counter (excuse my toilet photography!)

KICHIRI , EBISU BRANCH ( ITALIAN/ ASIAN FUSION)
My favourite family-friendly restaurants (particularly at dinner time) are the kind that don’t feel too family friendly.  This one ticks the box for me!
Kichiri has such yummy food and a grown up vibe but it is also good for kids.  Even small babies in fact as staff will organize a seat with a large cushion backing so babies could even get in some “tummy-time” while you eat!

Kichiri is a chain of restaurants so, if you’re a fan, you can keep an eye out for them all over Japan.  I would call the food ‘Japanese fusion’.  The menu is in English and it’s open until 2am (last orders at 1am)
The restaurant’s interior is minimal, chic and futuristic. I love it!

I recommend making a booking (especially if there are more than 2 of you.)  Once you enter the restaurant, shoes go in a locker and you hang on to your key….

then you’ll be shown to your table.
The tables are all floor level but the place where you put your legs (below the knee) is cut out – so your body is still making a “sitting in a chair”- shape.
After you’ve placed your order, your waiter will bring you an “otoshi” which is a tiny appetizer of the day.  It’s probably best to think of this as a compulsory “table charge.” (This is standard practice in Japanese Izakaya Pubs)

It looks quite fancy inside but I think it’s pretty reasonable. With drinks and ordering a few dishes each , I’d probably budget for 4000 yen per person? (way less for children, of course)

There are also course menu options. There are other Kichiri’s all over Tokyo. For example: Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Ginza & Shibuya.

My favourite dish BY FAR is the fried corn. The picture doesn’t do it justice.  It’s just so hard to not order another serving!

SOUTH SEAFOOD & GRILL
The new Australian restaurant South Seafood & Grill inside Ebisu (sometimes spelled Yebisu depending on which site you’re looking at) has high chairs.
This surf & turf restaurant is a little bit fancy so I don’t think I would bother taking my babies unless it was a special occasion with friends but that’s your call.
This restaurant has a fantastic view of the city as it’s on the 39th floor.  There is a salad buffet option for lunch which might be nice for babies (I’ve only been there at night for grown-up food and wine-drinkin’)
Menu is on their website.

Omo5 Tokyo Otsuka. has a beautiful restaurant next to the reception- serving breakfast and dinner and there is also a DJ playing in the evening so it kind of becomes a chill bar.

You don’t need to be a staying guest to use the restaurant or bar.  They offer a western style breakfast, pastries, risotto and soups.

These are the types of high chairs they have at OMO5

I have written about the JR Otsuka area and spending time here as a family in detail here.

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Shinagawa
Ty Harbor Brewery
is a beautiful waterfront restaurant in the Shinagawa area.  There is lots of outdoor seating and a very family friendly menu.  It is also extremely English-friendly.  It’s also a lovely spot for a date night or an outdoor brunch.

SARABETHS  ( WESTERN STYLE BREAKFAST)
This is right above/in Shinagawa Station. On the 4th floor.
I’m from Melbourne, Australia, and, to me, this kind of breakfast is very very old school.  It was yummy and good quality but a bit like having breakfast out in the 80s.
The menu is on their website if you’d like to check ahead. My egg white and cheese omelette was delicious. My hubby said the coffee was fantastic.
They do have high chairs for babies.
They also allow you to bring your own baby food into their restaurant.

WOLFGANG PUCK (PIZZA AND STEAK)
For dinner ( or lunch) there is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Near the Konan Exit.
They have a kids menu & also highchairs.
Warning, there is a table charge of 350 yen per adult.
We also find this restaurant to be overpriced but it depends on what you are craving.

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Roppongi

FRENCH KITCHEN (LUXURY HOTEL BUFFET)
The French Kitchen at The Grand Hyatt is the perfect place for a long and decadent breakfast or brunch.  The Weekend Brunch is absolutely stunning and I would recommend the terrace seating with children (even if it means layering up in colder weather.) Take the colouring books and stickers and arrive hungry.  Check their website or call directly (staff speak English) to see if their price and meal options suit your breakfast budget.

LE PAIN QUOTIDIEN, ROPPONGI MIDTOWN
Le Pain Quotidien in Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) is a beautiful bakery restaurant and you can eat there or takeaway.  There is also outdoor dining (which is always easier with kids, right?)
They also serve  meals.  Eggs and croissants or Smoked Salmon open sandwiches and various salads and steak dishes. They also have vegetarian options.
The meals are around 2000 yen (5000 yen at dinner time)  so the cheaper option is to make use of the beautiful bakery. They have high chairs and a kids menu.

OBICA, ROPPONGI HILLS

Obica (Italian restaurant) has an outdoor terrace and a great happy hour (for the Mummies & Daddies.)
They do sometimes call themselves Obika with a K too.
Their kids’ plate is also adorable.   Change tables are within the complex behind the restaurant.
The menu is on their website.
They also allow you to take your stroller into the restaurant.
It’s also one of the few restaurants that allows for pizza leftovers to be taken home (well, ‘legally’ – I’m famous at discretely shoving some leftovers in a ziplock bag.)
Small dogs are allowed on the terrace.

There is another Obica in Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi.

Another branch is also found on the other side of Roppongi. ….
Just outside of Tokyo Midtown is the Italian restaurant Obica.  (There is also one at Roppongi Hills that I have also written about just above).
They have a lovely outdoor terrace.  Unlike the Roppongi Hills branch, they do not have a kids menu but my kids still love the classic, simple pizza.
The single menu items are quite expensive but the lunch sets are very reasonable.
(For people lunching without kids, there is also a 90 minute free flow champagne deal.)
The entire restaurant is non-smoking.
They do have high chairs.

Technically Nishi-Azabu but is very close to Roppongi Hills, is  Gonpachi.  This restaurant is also known as “The Kill Bill Restaurant”.  Is it a total tourist trap? Yes! It’s it great fun and very cool? YES!  It’s also very easy with children – for lunch or an early sitting at dinner. (If you do go for dinner, go on a Sunday night on a Wednesday night between 8-8:30pm.   They almost always have a Japanese drumming performance right in the restaurant. Ask about it when you make a reservation.)
I love their tempura and my kids like the gyoza.

I recommend making a reservation.  It’s a lively,  picturesque setting for a meal.   Don’t rush in – the entrance is filled with signed photos of famous visitors. They are great with kids here.
They have also just recently introduced vegan sushi here as menu option.

Or if you’re in Tokyo Midtown (department store) for lunch (or dinner) and want to eat beautiful Japanese food, I recommend Suju Dining Rokkaku.
Even if there is a queue, I recommend waiting around as, although it is popular, they are quick at lunch time to make sure they can seat everyone without having to wait too long.
The food is so reasonably priced and there is so much food in one lunch set.   This restaurant cooks all its dishes in the style of and using mostly ingredients from Karuizawa ( a popular holiday spot just a few hours out of Tokyo.)
All lunch sets are less than 1800 yen. At dinner time I would budget for more like 8000 yen per adult.
They do have stroller parking and high chairs.

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo:Shibakoen
Inside of Tokyo Tower is a food court (on the 2nd floor.) There is curry, waffles, ice-cream, ramen, burgers, donburi (rice bowls) and pizza to choose from.  And because it’s a food court it means that everyone can eat different things – which is fantastic when you have fussy eaters.

The high chairs are those ones without the strap at the front though so you’ll need to watch those little ones (after you’ve hiked them up as close to the table as you can manage.)

And then you can make your way to the observation deck.
Crepes are sold out the front of the tower and there is often a beer garden out the front too (in the sunny months.)

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo:  Hiroo
Another lunch (or dinner) option is  down the end of the cute little shopping street in Hiroo – a hamburger restaurant called  Homeworks.
They have high chairs (although not the chairs with the front tray attached) and a little selection of picture books for children to look through while waiting for their food.
They have an English menu.

They offer sandwiches, hamburgers and even have a vegetable plate that includes falafel.
They have a number of vegetarian options.
Kids menu options include: a kids burger, a kids cheeseburger, a kids teriyaki burger, a kids grilled cheese sandwich, a kids organic egg sandwich and a kids ham & cheese sandwich.  (All kids options approximately 800 yen.)

CAFE LABOHEME, OMOTESANDO

If you wanted pizza and a place that is rarely crowded but is also on the main ‘drag’ in Harajuku consider Cafe La Boheme? It’s a pizza chain and they also have a vegan buddha bowl/salad.
It’s next to Heiroku Sushi.
It’s a smoke free restaurant.
They also have high chairs and cups and forks etc for children.
The restaurant is down some stairs so you’ll need to carry your stroller down.

TRUNK HOTEL (KITCHEN)
If you’re looking for somewhere for breakfast (open from 7am ! Almost unheard of for a proper sit down brekkie in these parts!)
It is worth the 13 min walk from Harajuku station, if you crave a gourmet western breakfast.
The building is designed so beautifully and it has a large outdoor terrace which makes it extremely kiddie friendly.   This place is  also just 11 minutes walk from Shibuya Station.

Here is the Full Trunk Menu.

If you decide to visit in the evening the hotel interior and bar doesn’t quite feel appropriate for children but the Trunk Kushi (skewered meat & veg) restaurant out the front of the hotel definitely is fine – with outdoor seating and, once again, enough space for a little wriggle.

This hotel/ restaurant is also very accommodating when it comes to guests/diners who require gluten-free dishes.

UOBEI SUSHI

Just halfway up the hill from Shibuya Crossing is Uobei Sushi Restaurant.   Turn right down an alley after Mos Burger and it’s on your right.  This place is such a fun place to take children as all orders are made on an ipad with pictures and then the orders come zooming down a conveyor-belt and stop right in front of your seat.   This is a fantastic place to try different kinds of sushi for the first time but it’s also great for fussy eaters as it’s also possible to order fries, noodles, ice-cream and fried chicken. You could even try a weird and wonderful sushi hybrid “cheeseburger sushi roll.”  All dishes are around 100-200 yen each so it’s actually really difficult to spend too much money.

It’s not posh and the food isn’t going to be awarded a Michelin star anytime soon – but it’s such a fun way to dine.
*For adults only* Why not try a Japanese mixed drink called a Lemon Sour or a Lemon Chu-Hai ?  Kanpaii ! (Cheers!)

It’s not possible to reserve a table so just tell the staff how many people and wait for your spot to open up.  Customer turnover is really high so the wait has never been longer than 10 minutes for us before.

They also have highchairs for babies.  How cute is my niece – out for lunch!

If you’re checking out the new Shibuya Stream complex, and need a restaurant with a high chair within this complex, your options are limited to Xiringuito Escriba (Spanish food)  and Dalian (Chinese food).  Petalo (Italian) food also serves a kids meal (but no high chair.)

GONPACHI SHIBUYA
Another child-friendly, smoke-free option is Gonpachi in Shibuya, up the hill from the famous crossing ( walk up Dogenzaka Road, past Hooters, past KFC).  This Gonpachi isn’t as famous as the Nishi-Azabu branch ( often referred to as the Kill Bill Restaurant and I talk about it here) but it is just as English friendly and offers a beautiful view of the city as it is on the 14th floor.
It is also possible to reserve a private room with horigotatsu style seating ( that means it looks like you’re kneeling at the table but the seat is actually dug out at floor level.) A private room is great if baby or toddler is likely to want to move around and play for the meal.  Food options include sushi, soba noodles, yakitori, tempura etc. The Gonpachi entire menu is here.
They don’t mind if you bring your own baby food.
They do have high chairs.  The entire restaurant is non-smoking. Also open for lunch.

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo :  Ginza
BEER HALL LION GINZA
This is a German beer hall that was designed by architect Eizo Sugawara in the 1930s.   Food options include fried chicken and fries, pasta and pizza. They have an English menu (including a children’s menu.) Beer Hall Lion Ginza accept most major credit cards. There is space to store a stroller here too. The entire restaurant is non-smoking. When dining here, I would budget for approx 2000yen per adult.  This restaurant is 1 min walk from Ginza Metro (subway) station or 10 mins walk from JR Yurakucho Station.

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo :  Odaiba
BILLS

If you’re at Odaiba first thing, I recommend Bills for breakfast (or lunch). It’s an Australian restaurant so it’s a nice open space (even accommodates strollers) with an international menu.  There are a few other of the Bills Restaurants in Tokyo but this is the least crowded – especially compared to the others on the weekend.   The service isn’t the fastest so order for kids as soon as you sit down.
This restaurant is fine for you just wheel your stroller up beside the table while you dine, if you like.
This is also a great option for lunch. This restaurant also serves brown rice on the side – which I know some families really like.

If you decide to go to Bills for lunch but the line has grown too long to wait, there is a Pizza /Pasta restaurant right next door called Trattoria Pizzeria Logic. My kids love their Margherita Pizza and I’m always daydreaming about their Caprese salad.
It’s not a fancy restaurant but I like how they have outdoor seating on the deck (so I feel much more comfortable with my kids spilling everywhere.)
They have high chairs.
If you are there for lunch, they offer a bottomless juice bar which includes iced tea, grapefruit juice and orange juice.

EGGS’N’THINGS
Eggs’n’Things
is a Hawaiian restaurant built around the concept of “All Day Breakfast” ( a relatively new idea for Japan.)  It is light and bright and there are several of these restaurants around Japan but this is branch my favourite – mainly because of the space and shorter lines.   This restaurant is well-known for the mountain of whipped cream on their sweet pancakes. YUM!   They also have savoury options and a kids menu (egg and hamburger steak plate or fruit and cream pancakes with a chocolate pen to decorate).  They have high chairs and the staff are very welcoming when it comes to families.

港区台場1-7-1 アクアシティお台場 3F
OPEN: 9AM-11PM (LAST ORDER AT 9:30PM)

Another easy place to stop for food with kids is Aloha Table in Nakameguro.  This Hawaiian restaurant has a large dining terrace on the riverside too (and is undercover so rain won’t get in the way. ) Their kids plate is particularly impressive.

Meals are around 1000 yen for lunch and 2000 yen for dinner.
This restaurant takes credit card and has some vegetarian and vegan options.

For a chilled and cheap (Japanese version of) Western cuisine is Royal Host in Meguro.   We love this diner and liken it to a takeaway dinner.   The menu is extensive. It all has beautiful glossy pictures and the limitless drink fountain also includes hot drinks. There is a children’s menu and kids can select one toy from the basket offered by wait staff.
It’s just easy and good value for money.
There are Japanese and International menu options.  Check out the Royal Host Menu page for a pictorial menu– it’s only in Japanese but there are pictures of almost every dish.  This restaurant is like a Japanese version of a diner so don’t expect fancy all though it is clean, bright and yummy. It’s our family’s comfort food. It’s a really cheap meal with kids.

RIVERSIDE CLUB
And for a lovely slow, sit-down lunch and brunch I highly recommend Riverside Club in Nakameguro.
They serve smoothies, French toast, omelettes.  Read the full Riverside Club  breakfast menu here.
And they also have a Riverside Club all day menu here.
Riverside Club accept reservations.  They do accept most major credit cards.  The entire restaurant is non-smoking. Although the restaurant has a bit of a special vibe, they do welcome children. They also have high chairs.

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Shimokitazawa
Oh my goodness this is my latest breakfast discovery!
It is such a cool, vibey space (with a beautiful outdoor terrace.)
We arrived last Sunday at 9:30am and no-one was there! It was us an about 2 other people in the whole restaurant! By 10:30 it was almost full though – with lots of joggers, cyclists and other people with young families.
They have high chairs and a change table too so it’s very easy to dine here with small children.

I am still thinking about my egg white and mushroom omelette. It was huge!
My fussy little guy loved my Zenbi smoothie too. I may have shed a tear as he is running away from anything healthy right now.  (There are lots of other Mr Farmer restaurants in Tokyo – see website below for details- but I this was, in my opinion, the best!)

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Shirokane
Kiwi Kitchen
is one of the most kid-friendly ( and, as an Aussie- it feels so lovely and familiar) spots to have morning tea or lunch.
Order at the ground floor and tell them you’ll be eating upstairs. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. There are toys, it’s quiet.
Did you know that they also do home pack deliveries? I do it all the time!! (especially before we have visitors.) You need to give them 3 days notice but they bring the food to your home warm and then you can chop it up , freeze and have lasagna , shepherds pie and curries whenever you like!!  Order homepacks from Kiwi Kitchen here (not sponsored at all)

Restaurants with highchairs in Tokyo: Ikebukuro
ALOHA AMIGO
It is 5 mins walk from JR Ikebukuro West Entrance.  Aloha Amigo accepts most major credit cards.  For adults, I would budget approx 2000yen to eat here at lunch and double that at dinner time.  Indoor is all non-smoking (smoking is allowed in the outdoor section.)
They have a kid’s menu and also high chairs.   See here for the Aloha Amigo menu.

THE DOME

This is a Parent-Child Cafe is a very cool concept and I’d recommend it for Parents with children 3 years old or younger (any older and I think they would get a bit bored.)
It’s very convenient when kiddies need a wriggle and Mum and Dad would like to chat hands-free.
The vibe of the cafe is ‘Ladies who lunch’ and can be a little bit expensive but it’s very clean and the staff are really kind and friendly.

Lunch courses start at 2000 yen while dinner can be A La Carte or courses.
Kids’ plates are 900 yen.
The complete The Dome menu is available online here in English and Japanese.

The tables are in a circle and the toys in the middle.
They have high chairs and booster seats available.

It’s best to call and make a reservation.

Yakiniku Champion, Ikebukuro welcomes children and babies.   They are in a building connected to Ikebukuro Station so are very easy to get to.
Yakiniku is Korean barbecue where you cook your own thinly sliced meat and vegetables on the grill at your table.
For lunch I would budget for 2000 yen per person while at dinner I would expect to pay more like 6000 yen.   This restaurant accepts most major credit cards.
They have an English menu and another menu that points out common allergens in certain dishes and sauces.
This restaurant has high chairs and a place to store strollers.

Restaurants with high chairs in Tokyo: Jiyugaoka
And if you’re looking for a meat laden OR vegan burger, you can go to the BareBurger chain option in Jiyugaoka.

They do have a vegetarian shroom wrap but to ask for a custom vegan option, order a hamburger with a mushroom patty, lettuce, avocado, balsamic vegan mayo ( costs 1480 yen.)
The entire restaurant is non-smoking and accepts most major credit cards.  They also have an English menu and a vegetarian menu.
They serve alcohol too.
There is space to take a stroller into the restaurant and the staff don’t mind.
They have high chairs and a kids menu (cheeseburger or fried chicken, fries, juice and ice-cream.)   Takeout is also ok.
There is also an allocated room to breastfeed, if you’d like, and a changing table.

Ueno Title

For a sit down lunch or dinner inside Ueno station with kids, I recommend visiting Taimeikan inside Ecute Department Store.  This is a restaurant that serves Hamburger Steak, Japanese Curry Rice and Omurice.  The restaurant is a bit like a retro dinner kind of vibe.  You may need to use google translate for some of the menu items.
This restaurant does not accept reservations. If you are coming to this restaurant just to dine and haven’t taken a train, you will need to purchase a train ticket called a “nyujyoken” (a ticket to enter the ticket gates) for 150 yen per adult first.
This restaurant accepts most major credit cards.  I would budget approximately 2000 yen per adult when dining here.
The restaurant is entirely non-smoking.
The kids lunch plate is 860 yen.
This restaurant has a high chair, place to store strollers while you dine and plastic plates and cups for kids.
Parents with babies are welcome to bring in baby food and they will even heat it up for you.

And for a vegan meal inside Ueno Station, try the amazing  T’s Tan Tan Ramen.
The entire restaurant is vegan.  It is called T’s Tan Tan.   The ramen, the gyoza, the “beef” bowls.  They have Gluten Free and Nut free options too.
There are also lots of take away vegan options.
The restaurant is actually located within the gates of JR Ueno Station.  But, even if you’re not travelling, I still recommend buying the basic “Platform/send off ” ticket for 130 yen
IT IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS HERE!

T’s Tan Tan have plastic plates and cups for small children to use.
They also have high chairs
This restaurant doesn’t mind if you bring in your own baby food for babies and they will even heat it up for you.
They also have space to store a stroller while you dine.

I also recommend grabbing a bento here for the bullet train.   So yummy.

Here are some photos from my most recent visit.

*There are other stores in Jiyugaoka and Tokyo Station.

For an old school Japanese diner restaurant just outside Ueno Station I recommend Juraku. This place is definitely not fancy (although I do find the vibe to be a little cozy) but my kids LOVE it. Big colourful ice-cream floats and lots of kids meals to choose from.  Very reasonably priced too.  The cuisine is “Yoshoku” (aka westernized Japanese good.)
I would budget around 1500 yen per adult to dine here.  They accept most major credit cards.  The entire restaurant is non-smoking. They have high chairs here and plastic plates and cutlery for kids.   The entire venue is non-smoking.

And if you’re still looking for options in Ueno. Go to Marui (written as OIOI) department store next to Ueno Station and go to the top floor for this pasta restaurant and food court.
Pasta More
This is Japanese style Italian Pasta.  They serve pizzas and desserts too. They accept credit cards. You can make a reservation here but, unless it’s a peak weekend night time, you should be fine with just a walk-in. Most meals are 1000-2000 yen each. I like their Japanese style Caesar Salad.  They also have fries and you can get sausages too. See pictures of the full Pasta More menu here.

Pasta More
Apologies for the low res photo but Pasta More has these types of high chairs (I’m like a secret highchair photo ninja, I tell ya)

And then in the open food court section called “Goo Food Hall” are several restaurants along the side and you order at one counter and can side wherever you like! I love  a food court because it doesn’t mean that I have to eat the same food as my kids if I don’t want to.
The meal options include:
Meal options include hamburger steaks, steak, hamburgers, omurice, Indian food, Korean food etc.   You can pay by credit card. They also serve alcohol here.

OIOI Dish (Marui Food Court on the 6th floor.)
Order at the counter pictured on the left hand side of this photo (Order here for all menu options. They will give you a beeper alerting you when it’s time to collect your meal.)

Beepers on the table waiting for our food. She is playing concentration while we wait (this is the concentration from the back of the tiny teddies box. I keep a little stash in my purse to play with while we wait for food.)
The kid’s plate with pancakes and the chocolate pen
I had the Indian curry plate. It wasn’t great (I love good Indian food.) Don’t really recommend.
She loves her steak and rice.
These are the type of high chairs that they have at the food court.
