HOTEL ANDROOMS, HONMACHI, OSAKA

Hotel Androoms is a chain of hotels and I’m so impressed.    The hotels are modern, clean, generously sized rooms, a beautiful restaurant/ communal working space in the lobby.
They are also so reasonably priced!! I booked on booking.com and only paid around 6000 yen for one night!! ( and that included breakfast!)

Hotel Androoms Honmachi have also just added Family Rooms to their room types !

If you’re watching your budget this is one of the best affordable hotels that I have found.  I’ve stayed here (paid for it all myself.) It’s a wonderful, affordable place for couples or small families.  I think it’s also a great option if you are booking multiple rooms in order to accommodate teens.

The quality of this hotel is impeccable – especially considering it is a 3 star hotel.

Check out here is 11am !

Children under 12 can stay for no additional charge if they are bed sharing.   (They still need to be included in the booking.)

How to get to Hotel Androoms Honmachi
This hotel is 6 mins walk from Honmachi Station on the Midosuji Line (via Exit 2 or 6.)
From Umeda Station, you can take the Midosuji Line to Honmachi and door to door – the trip will take 12 mins.
From Shin-Osaka Station, you can also take the Midosuji Line to Honmachi (20 mins door to door) or you could take a taxi and it will take approximately 18 mins (2500 yen.)
From this hotel, it is 12 mins (approx 1500 yen) in a cab to Namba Parks Shopping Mall (with lots of family friendly restaurants and a large Toys R Us that stocks nappies/diapers and baby food.)

The lobby is also a restaurant area.  Great for catching up or having a meal of coffee with other friends in the hotel or getting some work done.

CONVENIENCE STORES NEAR HOTEL ANDROOMS HONMACHI
2 mins walk to 7-Eleven
3 mins walk to Family Mart
8 mins walk to Lawson

While at Lawson (convenience store brand) …
These fried chicken options are LIFESAVERS (especially if you have picky eaters with you.)
This one pictured below is available at Lawson convenience stores – it is called “Karage-Kun” (pronounced “ka-ra-ge-kun”) and inside contains approx 6 pieces of Japanese fried chicken. Be sure to get the REGULAR flavour and the other option is a bit spicy and one of the other flavours sometimes available contains cheese.  (see here for other Japanese convenience store tips and our favourite foods sold here in this blog post.)

WHERE TO EAT NEAR HOTEL ANDROOMS HONMACHI?

Not kid-friendly but if one adult can escape for a quick bite, I recommend a hole in a wall Yakitori shop called Yakitori Ichi.  It is just 3 mins walk from Hotel Androoms.
This isn’t a smoke free restaurant.  I would budget 3000 yen if eating a meal here (although you order yakitori sticks one at a time so it depends how much you order, of course.)  Cash only.
This isn’t the kind of place with an English menu but I recommend going in and asking for a “Nama-beeru”  (a draught beer) or 生ビールif you just wanted to hold this up and point.
Other standard menu items you can order. …
-“Remon Sawaa” (a Lemon Sour) レモンサワー (this is a simple cocktail made with soda water, lemon juice or flavouring and shochu
Negima” (chicken skewers with scallions) ねぎま
Seseri“(skewers with meat from the neck of the chicken) せせり
Kimo” (chicken liver skewers)
”Shishito“(small green peppers on skewers) ししとう
Shiitake” (shiitake mushrooms on skewers) 椎茸
Butabara” (fatty pork belly on skewers) 豚バラ
Sunasuri” (chicken gizzard skewers) 砂すり

And if you find the sauces or condiments overwhelming, you can also say tabekata oshiette kudasai (please show me how to eat this) 食べ方教えてください
