AN ART HOTEL IN KYOTO

AN ART HOTEL IN KYOTO

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HOTEL HAS DECIDED TO BECOME AN ADULT ONLY HOTEL AS OF JUNE 2024. NO CHILDREN ALLOWED ANYMORE< UNFORTUNATELY.

My Mum and I travelled down (well.. across but you know what I mean..) to Kyoto to this hotel but we liked it so much that we have also stayed here as a family several times since.

I’d seen pictures of this place online and …wow….it was just as cool in real life.
I had the Hotel Anteroom pinned in my ‘Must Try’ Pinterest board for a while now and was so lucky that I got to properly try it on for size.

The whole hotel is fabulous and you’ll especially love it  if you love art & design (and just something modern and different.)
The building used to be a student dormitory and it’s now transformed into a hotel full of rooms – all containing different pieces of art.

This hotel requires a cab or one subway stop to get back to Kyoto Station. You could also walk to Kyoto Station with a stroller in about 20-25 mins.

When booking a hotel in Japan with children, many people are confused as to why the hotel assumes they will share a bed with their children. I’ve done my best to try and answer this question here.

The hotel encourages guests to mingle at the bar from 8pm (drinks are only 500 yen and you also get a free bowl of chips and/or chocolate!!).
The locals even join in on the action.
It’s so modern and funky that you still want to keep the volume down a bit as it really is like being in one big funky art library.

It’s only a few blocks from Kyoto Station and when we had all of our luggage we took a cab – but it only cost around 500 yen.
If a few blocks is still a bit much and you wanted to get to the station right away… it’s only one subway stop away ( Kujo Station).

The staff gave us a list of neighborhood restaurants too – which was really, really helpful ( basically we just spent our entire trip in Kyoto based around all of the food we wanted to eat. Doesn’t everyone do that? No?)

They are very famous for their breakfast.  It was stunning!
Every morning, the chefs present you with three breakfast options – one is always a sandwich made with pita bread, another in a baguette and another sweet pie or pastry.
I don’t eat meat – but do eat fish and there was 2 of 3 options that I could eat both mornings.    There is also a salad buffet with a soup of the day and rice.   I loved their fresh juice of the day.  SO good.
