Are you about to visit Legoland Japan with kids in Nagoya?
I wrote about our visit below.
We visited Legoland by train from Nagoya.
We thought Legoland was further out of town, but it only took us about 20 minutes on an express train (Note ; when you leave from Nagoya Station, you don’t take the JR line, there is another line just next to it – within Nagoya Station- called the Aonami line. Thats the one you’ll need.)
As you know from my many Tokyo Disneyland posts we are huge Disney fans so it is always hard to not compare. However, we were shocked that Legoland was much more expensive for us. Especially as our little guy was not a freebie – like he is at the Disney Resorts (well, until he turns 4, I mean. ). However, they are in the middle of building a big aquarium next door and we were told that there will be a joint Legoland/Aquarium admission package available soon – which might take that edge of the prices.
Also, I made the mistake of not booking online first (needs to be more than a week in advance) and then you can get a significant discount. All the ticket pricing details can be found on the Legoland Japan website here.
*Legoland in Nagoya do some cute lego christmas theming in December. A giant lego tree and Lego Santa walks around etc.
Unless it is a national holiday or golden week – OR you are only doing a half day here I don’t believe a skip pass is worth the money. We did it recently and there was already hardly any lines and could have been on just as many rides without it.
But the park is very well set up.
We had a spectacular day. It’s so new and clean. Easy to get around.
WHAT TO PACK FOR LEGOLAND NAGOYA
Cash for vending machines
Weather appropriate clothing and suncream (lots of Legoland is outdoors)
Know the height of your children in centimeters ahead of time
My little guy and I struggled with a few rides that were very strict about height restrictions and he just didn’t make the cut. But for most? We were fine.
Here is a full list of all of the rides and their height and weight restrictions were all listed too.
This ‘shoot-em’ type ride was probably my kids (and my husbands’) favourite. As you could shoot water at the baddies but also at other random people just walking by. It was pretty funny. There are other stations for passers-by to shoot at you too.
Just like the smaller indoor Legoland in Tokyo, even the bathrooms are Lego themed.

And the replicas of Japanese cities was truly spectacular. So much detail has gone into every last block.
Also, there are little parts that move and my kids loved running between the inter-active button stations to see what happened.
The playgrounds were also very cool.
There is also a small aquarium section ( probably to help promote their partnership with the Sealife Aquarium nearby.)
And we went on the “Legoland Behind the Scenes Factory Tour” which was cute.
