RAINBOW KARAOKE IN SHIBUYA

RAINBOW KARAOKE IN SHIBUYA

This is one of my favourite Karaoke box complexes to take my kids or take my visitors.  It is called Rainbow Karaoke and is located in Shibuya.

It is just across the road from the Shibuya Koen Dori Disney Store and is possibly the BEST karaoke box set up I’ve ever seen!! It’s in a new department store called MODI, on the 9th floor.   It feels like you’re checking into a new hotel when you arrive and the rooms aren’t stinky like most places.   There is art on the walls, a self-serve soft-drink and ice-cream bar and… if you’re ok with paying a little bit more you can get a room with an actual drum kit inside!!
Karaoke is the best rainy option when your kids have just had enough.  They can run around in the room, lie down, order and eat food, sing, dance…the whole thing.

The prices: 140 yen per 30 mins per person before 7pm and 380 yen after that (even cheaper on weekdays.) You then need to choose to order at least one drink per person or choose the self serve soft-drink bar option.

Just a little note from one parent to another – if kids go to the toilet while you’re there without you – make sure they memorize your karaoke room number as they all look the same from the outside.

SEE HERE FOR STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON TAKING KIDS OUT TO KARAOKE IN JAPAN.

No need to make reservations here more than a few days in advance – ask your hotel to book for you in Japanese once you have arrived in Japan.
On the odd chance that they are full – go to your closest Karaoke-kan or Big Echo branch – they are also fantastic for families.

On the Rainbow Karaoke Shibuya website you can see all of the different types of rooms to choose from.

Rainbow Karaoke Shibuya also has  a kids room with an in built play area and ball pit.
