THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU, AKASAKA: FAMILY FRIENDLY HOTEL REVIEW (A GUEST POST BY PRISCILLA)

Priscilla is a self-confessed foodie, nerd, avid traveller and mum to Madeleine.  She loves to travel and share their adventures from Madeleine’s point of view on @Madeleinespointofview

rThis is also the area of the Harry Potter Cafe & Shop

Recently myself, my husband Paul and our daughter Madeleine who is one, took off to Tokyo, Japan for an adventure.
I have always loved travelling and continued that tradition with my husband Paul and our one-year old Madeleine.

We decided to stay at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu that is centrally located in Akasaka as this is a quieter area of Tokyo.

As most people know when travelling with a child, it changes the way you travel and you have to take many other things into consideration.  It is hard to find a luxury hotel that is child friendly as well, especially somewhere like Japan where the room sizes are not what we are used to in Australia and the USA etc.

A warm welcome
Right from the beginning when we stepped foot into The Capitol Hotel we felt welcomed by the staff and nothing was too much trouble.
They took to Madeleine straight away and were so friendly and caring towards her that she loved all the attention.  She even received a stuffed dog toy, that she loved.

Our room
We had one of the staff escort us to our room to show us the lay out and how the room worked.
The rooms are huge by Japanese standards and the bed was very comfy and they had also set up a cot for Madeleine as well.

The bathroom was a delight with a huge rain shower and big bathtub – I think this was one of Madeleines favourite parts of the holiday.  She would constantly be wanting to have a bath or shower and play in the bathroom.

Breakfast
The hotel offered a great buffet breakfast and the quality and variety were great.  They were accommodating to Madeleine as well with a highchair and childrens cutlery and she ate off our plates. There was a great selection of breads, fruit, yoghurt etc that Madeleine loved.

Location
One of the other things we loved about this hotel was the location.  It was so handy as in the basement of the hotel was a subway station and a little café, bakery and a seven-eleven.
We used the seven-eleven a lot to pick up fresh fruit, yoghurt and other snacks to take out with us for Madeleine.  There was also a park close by that was a ten-minute walk and we visited here a few times. It is called Hitotsugi Park.

The Lounge & Room Service
One night we went down to the lounge on the ground floor to have some drinks and food and they were very accommodating with Madeleine and most of the time she was there, she walked around and visited other tables to say hello to other guests.  We also had room service one night from the hotel and the food was great.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a beautiful luxury hotel that is child friendly and where the service is amazing.  Thank you to all the staff that made our holiday one to remember.
